Abstract

This article presents, as a proposal, an analysis of the construction of heroism on the figure of Bernardo Sayão. It started from the hypothesis that the narrative itself, added to the structures, in which the character was inserted, contributes to the construction of a profile that recalls the achievements of the great figures of the past. Sayão's heroism emerges from a period marked by profound transformations in the interior of Brazil, marked by projects such as the National Agricultural Colony of Goiás, the Belém-Brasília highway and the construction of Brasília, which would boost the development of the nation. Supported by the theory of History, biography and documentary analysis, in addition to the crossing and comparison of data, we sought to highlight details of the process of construction of this heroism, the authenticity of its actions and the collective recognition data that attest to the similarity of his deeds with those of other figures who preceded him.
