Opening of a new dossier: the Rural in debate

2025-03-11

The Brazilian rural universe is the central theme of this dossier. Academic production in recent decades, driven by the expansion of postgraduate programmes, has stimulated new analyses that have re-evaluated the role of the peasantry and/or the free, poor, freed and enslaved in Brazilian social formation. The aim is therefore to bring together studies that deal with this theme and other relevant aspects of the rural universe, such as the land question, the different forms of land appropriation and use, conflicts in the countryside, the work of social movements and traditional communities and other forms of resistance.
