Author guidelines
RULES FOR SUBMISSION OF MANUSCRIPTS
To ensure the uniformity and the quality of the publications, all manuscripts submitted to Macabéa – Revista Eletrônica do Netlli must follow the formatting guidelines described below. Manuscripts that do not meet these guidelines may be rejected or returned to the authors for adjustments prior to peer review.
Macabéa – Revista Eletrônica do Netlli accepts for publication unpublished originals texts – written in Portuguese, Spanish, French or English – that are not under evaluation by other journals, have not been published in a language other than that of the submission and whiche theme belongs to its area specialty:
– Literary studies and literary theory;
– Linguistic theory studies;
– Translations of unpublished scientific texts in the language chosen by the translator (preferably Portuguese, Spanish, English or French).
Aiming for variety in scientific dissemination, authors may only publish a single article in every two issues of Macabéa (an author may not publish more than one article in the same issue or in consecutive issues), except in exceptional cases to be considered by the editorial board.
At the discretion of the editorial board, relevant contributions that have a strong correlation with approaches in the field of education, language and literature teaching or language and literature teacher training may be accepted for evaluation.
1 MANUSCRIPT STRUCTURE
- Title: It must be in bold, centered, with all the main words in capital letters. Font: Times New Roman, size 14. Must not exceed ten (10) words; if there is a subtitle, it must not be in bold and must not exceed fifteen (15) words;
- Summary and abstract: Include a summary in Portuguese and an abstract in English, each with a minimum of 150 words and a maximum of 250 words. Font: Times New Roman, size 11, justified;
- Keywords: List three to five keywords right below the summary and abstract. Font: Times New Roman, size 11, italics, justified.
Important notes:
- Authors: Enter the names of the authors, biography, institutional affiliation and ORCID in the complementary file. Font: Times New Roman, size 12;
- Delete metadata from the submission file.
2 TEXT
- Font: Times New Roman, size 12, justified;
- Spacing: Simple;
- Margins: Top and bottom of 3 cm; left and right 2 cm;
- Section titles: Bold, aligned to the left, Arabic numerals (1., 2., 3., etc.). Subtitles must follow a logical hierarchy using numerical section indicators, as necessary;
- Footnotes: Should be used for additional details and not for bibliographical references. Font: Times New Roman, size 10, single spacing;
- Quotations: Quotations with more than three lines must be highlighted in a block, with a 4 cm indentation on the left, without quotation marks, and Times New Roman font, size 11.
Important notes:
- Observe NBR 10520/2023 (Citations);
- Titles of works: use bold, without quotation marks;
- Titles of parts of works: use italics, without quotation marks;
- Emphasis: use italics, without quotation marks.
3 FIGURES AND TABLES
- Figures: They must be numbered consecutively with captions below the figure. Subtitle font: Times New Roman, size 11, centered.
- Tables: They must be numbered consecutively with captions above the table. Subtitle font: Times New Roman, size 11, centered. Use horizontal lines to separate the table header and body, avoiding vertical lines.
Important notes:
- Do not use boxes with edges;
- Do not use colorful layouts in tables,
4 REFERENCES
- Reference style: Follow ABNT standards (Brazilian Association of Technical Standards, NBR 6023);
- Formatting: Font Times New Roman, size 12, single spaced, with a blank line between each reference.
Example:
BOOK: SURNAME, First name. Book title in bold. Edition. Location: Publisher, Year. # p.
BOOK CHAPTER: SURNAME, First name. Chapter title. In: SURNAME, First name. Book title in bold. Edition. Location: Publisher, Year. p. # - #.
ARTICLE: SURNAME, First name. Article title. Name of the journal in bold, Location, v. X, n. Y, p. xx-xx, Year.
# - equivalent to a number in Roman or Arabic numerals, as applicable.
5 SUBMISSION
- All fields listed below must be filled in the system: title and subtitle of the text; summary and abstract of the text, with keywords; bibliographic references of the text; names of authors (first and second names, e surnames on “nome próprio” field, except the last surname, which must be inserted on the “sobrenome” field) (first, with biographical summary, institutional affiliation and links to ORCID and Lattes.
- File Format: Manuscripts and supplementary information sheet must be submitted in DOCX or DOC format;
- Supplementary information sheet: must be attached as complementary material in DOCX or DOC format with the following information:

- Submission: Submissions must be made through the online submission system available on the magazine's website.
6 OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
Copyright: All works submitted must be original and not previously published. By submitting the manuscript, authors agree to the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International license.
Text proofreading: It is recommended that manuscripts be proofread by a proofreading professional before submission to ensure grammatical and spelling correctness.
Following these guidelines will allow the submission to be forwarded to blind peer review. The absence of mandatory information may result in the submission being rejected by the journal's editors, even before the peer review process begins.
